Hard Rock Calling
After about an hour and a half, it was time to move on to our next activity. This time after some live sport it was time for some live music. We weren’t in vein of risking this time, so instead that a place with live music we went to a proper concert.
I suppose you know Eric Clapton, but I?m not totally sure that you knew that he was one of the founders of the “Hard Rock Cafe” chain. Well now you know! He decided to organise this concert in collaboration with other artists called “Hard Rock Calling”. The three main musicians were Eric himself, Sheryl Crow and John Mayer. Everything took place in Hide Park, so as you can imagine, it was a massive concert with thousand of people in the audience. Still it took place in such a big enclosure that I didn’t feel crammed! Plenty of space for everyone - you can sit on the grass if you want to stay a little more distant from the stage. Or even jam packed if you prefer to be much closer to the artists - it was up to the individual.
John Mayer started to play at 5.30 as planned - very good singer and guitar player. His exhibition was enjoyable to the level that maybe I would have prefer him to get going for a little longer. Sheryl did a nice job too, she mixed some new songs with all favourites repertoire. The top performance came from the man himself, Eric Clapton enchanted the crowd with some very high quality songs. He started with some less known tunes, but when the sun set he started to play some unforgivable songs: beginning with Wonderful Tonight and moving on with Layla and to conclude with a version of Cocaine that played in a trio with Sheryl and John.
This was a massive event, something to remember and to tell your grandchildren about. Eric Clapton is a real genius! After the concert I went to sleep with a smile on my face, good music makes me feel good. GALLERY
