Yes I’m referring to the marathon. The S-Team managed to run the whole 26.2 miles in just under 4 hours. The day begun early for three runners and I. The organisation did a good job and everyone was at its place well in time. Maybe too early, in other words the hardest part was to wait for your time to arrive. The blustery wind was really a problem, and we ended up going back to the same buses that brought us there for shelter. Than the next challenge was the loo, yes in very British style 3 had to queue for 40 min!! It worth it!

Once I started my leg I really enjoyed running with all the others. There’s the fact that I began my run at mile 13, so the other runners where already tired. For this reason I spent the first 15min doing anything else but taking over. This puts you in a good mental status … run Marco run. The sun was shining but the wind was still blowing at 20 mph. Strange running conditions, depending on where I was in the race and I could be blinded by the dust or blown forward by the wind.
In general everything was going as planned, but as usual the last 1, 2 mileswere the hardest. Fortunately the water station was strategically located and after a wee bottle I was ready to get to the changeover point! There I was and the next runner was ready to take it on to the end. 5 miles north, the Musselburgh racecourse is were all came to an end. Elaine swears that she saw the stop watch when she arrived displaying 3:55:00, we’re still waiting on the official time that we’ll be published on tomorrow’s newspaper. While you’re waiting for the next post here a couple of pics.
