Let’s go to! England #1

It’s true I’ve been living in Scotland for quite a while now, but there are still things that I have to visit: in one word England.
Manuela and I have been in a lot of places in the country of Whiskey, but we’ve crossed the border only an handful of times. This time we decided to go there properly, Easter in the north of England.
We were attracted by the Lake District area, just few mile from Carlisle. The cumbrian city is a short train journey away and from there we can drive everywhere, sky is the limit! I was expecting a fair amount of traffic for the Easter break. The truth is another, people nowadays are fighting everywhere so the train and roads were empty only the parking were busy.
The Lake District is a touristic resort liked by Brits unwilling to leave the UK, or with a passion for watersports or walkings. The scenery is pretty amazing with lakes reflecting the surrounding mountains. I can only assume that in the summer is possible to take a deep. I say during the summe because this year Easter is early and this is confirmed by the low temperature with some snow :-) *

Lucky Days

You know when you feel lucky. You wake up in the morning, get to the bus stop while raining and your bus is just approaching. Or if you cycle to work all the traffic lights are green and pedestrians are civilized and wait for their green. It’s different for any of us, but you know when it is. Well last Monday it was

Fairtraide Experience

For this event part of the Fairtrade Fortnight we are in Glasgow, the most populated city in Scotland is hosting the FT Experience. First of all the venue is simply brilliant: The Royal Concert Hall – incredibly central and well equipped for any sort of event.

Fairtrade Fortnight

Every year the Fairtrade Foundation organises two weeks of activities and events.

Here in Edinburgh there is a variety of events schedule, one of which was just in my office! To be fair is not just my office, is the head office of the city of Edinburgh Council.

The Fairtrade Breakfast started at about 8 in the morning. There was plenty of food, coffee and tea to indulge with, all rigorously Fairtrade. This was clearly the right way to attract FT sceptics.

Additionally the event was endorsed by the leaders of our local authority: Lord Provost , CEO etc.
All had a go at praising what FT is doing in developing countries. To conclude we also hear similar words that crucially came out from the mouth of a Kenyan farmer that improved his life thank to the FT premium.

The event was concluded by a “Fashion Show”, a bunch of young models showing a number of FT garments, jewels and bags on the improvised catwalk.

If you still don’t know what Fairtraide is and does here’s the link:
